Easter Bunny Hop and Easter Bone Contest.
Saturday, April 4, 2009 noon - 5 pm, Hunt starts at 3.
We would like to thank all of our clients and friends who came out and
participated in our First Annual Easter Bone Hunt. It was a rousing success,
generating hundreds of dollars in donations to the Columbus Paws Humane
Society, great pet education, and a good time for our friends and family.
2 pm, 4 pm - Easter Bunny visited and handed out goodies to all the little kids!
2:30 Officer Eric of the Columbus Sheriff's department gave two demonstrations of the narcotic's K-9 officer's
detection abilities.
3 pm - Anita Rabidou of the Columbus Kennel Club gave a presentation on CKC activities and how to get more
involved in activities with your Dog. Be sure to check their site for more information on their temperment
testing event!
3:30 pm - Mary Lou of PAWs gave a presentation of the activities and ways to participate with PAWS humane
society. Bolt and Braveheart were present for adoption. (And still need good owners)

Annual Dachshund Races
This Saturday, October 17th, 2009, Benning Animal Hospital are doing
something really special. The event, which is welcome to Children, Adults,
and dogs, will take place from 1 pm to 6 m
"Your Dachshund" and Toy Breed Dogs under 10 pounds are cordially invited
to participate in our "October Fest" 1st Annual Dachshund Races.
We will have Cash Prizes and Trophies for the winners: 100$ for first place,
50$ for second, and $25 for third place for Dachshunds. For Pet Breeds, $50
for first place, $25 for Second, and $20 BAH gift certificates for third place.
This year, we have "Dog Story Time" for the children, Free behind the
scenes tours of our famous Cat Play rooms, Doggies suites, and Cat Condos.
Our Veterinary Nurses will provide "mini exams" for animals you bring in,
and give you a free coupon for $10 off your next exam or services at BAH.
We will have boarding and pet care instruction booths, along with many
demonstrations, food, and events.
Last year we had over 150 people attend, and over 70 dogs! We served out
hot dogs from Cook's Hotdogs, drinks, chips, candy and other foods
courtesy of Webster Veterinary Supplies. We gave out chapstick,
handsanitizers, Puppy Manuals, and other goodies, while enjoying a
beautiful sunny day!
There were fantastic demonstrations of dog obedience by Jerry Barnes,
laser therapy demonstrations, Novartis animal rehab movies, Purina Dog
Food and weight loss demos, Arthritis and your pet sessions, and many
other educational events. During National Pet Wellness Month, we had lots
of people learn how to improve their pets lives, and theirs as well. Novartis
provided large trophies for 1st, 2nd, and 3rd places, while Webster donated
6 months of flea control for 2nd place winners. Thank you all for
participating and contributing! The Cook's Hotdogs were delicious, and the
shade from the tents from Vance Memorial Chapel was welcome on our
sunny day. Finally thanks to Silver Run Baptist Church for loaning us the
chairs and tables for the events.
If you are intersted in having your dog "race", please drop by and fill out an
entry form and waiver.
